This is usually one of our first questions we ask when buy or plan to make any modifications for a new platform. In this case it is our Project ND MX5 Miata is the subject. Our car has about 1000 miles on it now, we bought it with just over 820 miles and it is finally time to see what the little 2.0 Liter engine can do. We were really curious to find the answer because despite the horsepower rating being so low the car has a nice meaty mid-range and it really isn’t too bad in the acceleration department.

Bolted to our Dynapack Dyno we recorded 139 ft. lbs of torque at 2750 rpm and 140 whp at 6000 rpm.

Not a bad base line and definitely not bad for a car that weighs roughly 2300 lbs. Now we have starting point, it’s time to start making some power mods.
